Joel 4:12-21
12Let the nations bestir themselves, and come up to the valley of Jehoshʹaphat; for there I will sit to judge all the nations round about.
13Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Go in, tread, for the wine press is full. The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.
14Multitudes, multitudes, in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
15The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.
16And the LORD roars from Zion, and utters his voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth shake. But the LORD is a refuge to his people, a stronghold to the people of Israel.
17“So you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who dwell in Zion, my holy mountain. And Jerusalem shall be holy and strangers shall never again pass through it.
18“And in that day the mountains shall drip sweet wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the stream beds of Judah shall flow with water; and a fountain shall come forth from the house of the LORD and water the valley of Shittim.
19“Egypt shall become a desolation and Edom a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the people of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
20But Judah shall be inhabited for ever, and Jerusalem to all generations.
21I will avenge their blood, and I will not clear the guilty, for the LORD dwells in Zion.”
Responsorial Psalm
Psalms 97:1-2, 5-6, 11-12
1The LORD reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad!
2Clouds and thick darkness are round about him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
5The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth.
6The heavens proclaim his righteousness; and all the peoples behold his glory.
11Light dawns for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.
12Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!
Gospel
Luke 11:27-28
27As he said this, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts that you sucked!”
28But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

Sirach 39:6-10
6If the great Lord is willing, he will be filled with the spirit of understanding; he will pour forth words of wisdom and give thanks to the Lord in prayer.
7He will direct his counsel and knowledge aright, and meditate on his secrets.
8He will reveal instruction in his teaching, and will glory in the law of the Lord’s covenant.
9Many will praise his understanding, and it will never be blotted out; his memory will not disappear, and his name will live through all generations.
10Nations will declare his wisdom, and the congregation will proclaim his praise;
Responsorial Psalm
Psalms 40:2, 4-10
1I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.
3He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.
4Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after false gods!
5Thou hast multiplied, O LORD my God, thy wondrous deeds and thy thoughts toward us; none can compare with thee! Were I to proclaim and tell of them, they would be more than can be numbered.
6Sacrifice and offering thou dost not desire; but thou hast given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required.
7Then I said, “Lo, I come; in the roll of the book it is written of me;
8I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my heart.”
9I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; lo, I have not restrained my lips, as thou knowest, O LORD.
Gospel
Matthew 13:47-52
47“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net which was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind;
48when it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into vessels but threw away the bad.
49So it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous,
50and throw them into the furnace of fire; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.
51“Have you understood all this?” They said to him, “Yes.”
52And he said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.”
