Jonah 3:1-10
1Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying,
2“Arise, go to Ninʹeveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.”
3So Jonah arose and went to Ninʹeveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Ninʹeveh was an exceedingly great city, three days’ journey in breadth.
4Jonah began to go into the city, going a day’s journey. And he cried, “Yet forty days, and Ninʹeveh shall be overthrown!”
5And the people of Ninʹeveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them.
6Then tidings reached the king of Ninʹeveh, and he arose from his throne, removed his robe, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
7And he made proclamation and published through Ninʹeveh, “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, or drink water,
8but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and let them cry mightily to God; yea, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence which is in his hands.
9Who knows, God may yet repent and turn from his fierce anger, so that we perish not?”
10When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God repented of the evil which he had said he would do to them; and he did not do it.
Responsorial Psalm
Psalms 130:1-4, 7-8
1Out of the depths I cry to thee, O LORD!
2Lord, hear my voice! Let thy ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
3If thou, O LORD, shouldst mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
4But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
7O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plenteous redemption.
8And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
Gospel
Luke 10:38-42
38Now as they went on their way, he entered a village; and a woman named Martha received him into her house.
39And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching.
40But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”
41But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things;
42one thing is needful. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her.”

Ephesians 3:14-19
14For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
15from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
16that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with might through his Spirit in the inner man,
17and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fulness of God.
Responsorial Psalm
Psalms 103:1-4, 8-9, 13-14, 17-18
1Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,
3who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,
4who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
8The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger for ever.
13As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear him.
14For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.
17But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children,
18to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.
Gospel
Matthew 11:25-30
25At that time Jesus declared, “I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes;
26yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will.
27All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
28Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
